The Golden Rule of
Political Statesmanship

The Nasty Pakistani Perpetrators

The United States has a history of galloping to the rescue of downtrodden democracies. Great Britain and Russia was at the top of the list. Last Sunday US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton wrote a new page in American history by accusing some unidentified government officials in Pakistan of harboring Osama bin Laden and Mullah Omar.

I believe somewhere in this government are people who know where Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida and where Mullah Omar and the leadership of the Taliban are. Exactly how deep they are and how long they have lasted was still being sorted out, Clinton said.

Pentagon officials suggest Faisal Shahzad was a lone wolf in the New York bombing but Hillary Clinton isn t having any of that nonsense. She insists that Faisal had connections to Pakistan-based terrorist groups inside Pakistan and by golly Pakistan had better pony up some evidence to support her denunciation or there s no telling where this diatribe will take US.

We cannot tolerate having people encouraged, directed, trained and sent from Pakistan to attack us.

Clinton added that this is a threat we share we have a common enemy there is no time to waste go as fast and hard as we can.

Isn t that bailout language? ..there is no time to waste dish out the loot as fast and hard as we can ..

And, if they can t?

Clinton said there would be very severe consequences.

When asked what she meant, exactly, Clinton responded with a clear warning for the world: I think I will let that speak for itself.

There is one way to see how Pakistan will react to this challenge, and it never fails to work: Just imagine that you can put the shoe on the other foot. Here we go.

Step 1: The president of Pakistan wakes up from a bad dream one morning and tells his cabinet.. I dreamed that the United States is consorting with India to move our borders west.

Cabinet > That sounds serious. What is Obama doing?

President > Oh, it may not be him, you know. Maybe it is someone 2 or 3 levels down, maybe even 7 or 8 levels down but I believe there is someone over there that doesn t want us to succeed.

Cabinet > What can we do to stop this sneaky maneuvering?

President > We ll insist that Obama finds this pocket of resistance and sends us the perpetrators so we can punish them. They ought to be glad to do this for us, we face a common enemy.

Cabinet > Uh, which enemy is that?

President of Pakistan > I think I will let that speak for itself. Dust off the red carpets, those perpetrators should be arriving soon.

Cabinet > What if Obama refuses to cooperate?

President > There would be very severe consequences.

Now we can identify Clinton s political savvy. It is just like the Golden Rule. Do unto US as we would have U do.
